World number 1 not my target –Nadal

Rafael Nadal
Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal has insisted his focus is only on winning trophies and not usurping Novak Djokovic as World Number One.
The 28-year-old will end 2014 as third in the ATP Tour rankings after enduring an injury-hit year, but speaking to France’s Stade 2 in a promotion for his tennis academy has stressed just being content with his tennis is enough for him.
The outgoing year has been a mixed bag for Nadal, who despite being constantly hampered by injuries still won a Grand Slam title for an eighth year in succession.
He won a stunning ninth French Open back in June with a four-set victory over Djokovic at Roland Garros, a win that moved him to within three of Roger Federer’s all-time record of 17.
However he was unlucky to miss out on the Australian Open at the start of the year, with Swiss maestro Stanislas Wawrinka swashbuckling his way to a maiden Slam title at the expense of the World Number Three in the final.
